Significant enhancements were added to the AIM Report in October 2026. These included new measures, upgraded calculations, additional configuration options for buildings, and incorporation of controls dysfunction and recommissioning features. New case studies were also added to the case study library.
The major new features are described in greater detail in the following articles:
- The lab zones matrix
- Controls dysfunction and recommissioning
- Building envelope calculations
- Updated measures list (lists the full set of 39 AIM measures)
- Updated case studies list (lists the full set of AIM case studies)
Some Useful Information for Existing Users
What Happened to My Existing AIM Buildings?
All existing users were automatically upgraded to the new version when it was released. Your AIM buildings, packages, and PDF reports have been carried over to the new version. The AIM assumptions, calculations, and results were updated during the release, and so you may see new values for savings or cost estimates for your packages, and new assumptions for your buildings. The savings and cost estimates shown in existing PDF reports were not updated. To preserve a record of previous calculations, snapshot PDF reports were created for all existing packages. These can be accessed in the Reports section for each package. Note that reports were not created for any package that was ineligible for report generation (e.g. empty packages, or those containing full-AIM measures on a demo subscription).
Can I Go Back to the Previous Version of AIM?
No, the migration to the new version is permanent and we believe that it offers improved calculation features and flexibility. However, if you wish to perform calculations that come close to mimicking the old version, you can take several steps: 1) Do not include any vivarium lab space in your building in LBT; 2) Turn off the Controls Dysfunction features by selecting Perfect Operation for all dysfunction settings; 3) Ensure that Supply Air Temperature Reset is turned off; 4) Use the Lab Zone Details tab to distribute any fume hoods in the facility to match your previous distribution; note that the previous default distribution placed 25% of the fume hoods in 10% of the lab space; 5) Mark all lab zones as Interior to avoid using the envelope load factors in the calculations.
